Even minute progress is good

We have progress on the design theory essay front! See below. (Alright so it’s not much at all, but it’s a good start, methinks. Three days before it’s due. Meh.)

After sifting through the contents of all these books (and that alone took me three days straight), it took me about an hour to write up a draft of the introduction, and then another two just to spruce it up. In between I watched Blade Runner and a few episodes of ye olde Batman: The Animated Series, after what feels like the zillionth time. *coughs* Yep, I am a bad influence on myself. Just as well I’m not writing my essay exclusively on television itself—I’d be glued to the box if I was! Then again, I do intend to add in a short paragraph or two on The Chaser guys’ antics and the blandness that is Mediawatch.

Oh, I love Alfred so dearly. He is such a great supporting character. There is that perpetually dry, acerbic wit and the stiff British upper-lip thing that entirely endears me to him. Plus, the man has gone through so much shit, what with Bruce being entirely insane and all. And he hardly gets any …

One Spring Day

Originally uploaded by Sugakusha

Well, it’s been pretty hellish lately. I seem to lack motivation for my projects, all except one digital imaging, because I have poured my Batman obsession into nearly all my assignments in that subject. My love for Batman is what’s keeping me sane, yes, truly. As insane as the Caped Crusader himself, eh?

The aforementioned eBay Dark Knight poster is now hanging on my bedroom wall, and I just stare at it—geez, I need a life. Apart from uni and the occasional work I have no time for anything else. I can’t even get enough sleep every night. This afternoon I found this ridiculously white/grey lock of hair in my own hair; just made me wonder how I cope with stress and my immediate environment.

I also thought that by re-designing an academic journal to do with 19th century literature (good thing I didn’t pick the really difficult Gaskell essay to re-design) would provide me with the right amount of stimulation and motivation to really get into it, but it’s been strenuous, to say the least. But I am determined to make the most of it come mid-semester break next week (liek finally).

Have I mentioned how much …

Hobart – what life’s supposed to be. Or is it?

I’m back from Woop Woop! No, in all seriousness, Hobart is a beautiful but quiet (don’t say sleepy) city, home of “our” Princess Mary, or should I say more correctly, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Countess of Monpeza (and what the heck is it with the use of the possessive term in Australia? Our Nicole, our Cathy, etc. Seems to purport that we jealously protect our limited stock of celebrities and superstars, like cattle or sommat). Anyway, I bought tickets from Tiger Airways during their $9.95 promotions several months back (not likely to happen again, given the state of oil prices at the moment) – initally I’d planned for my family and me to go to Darwin (nice and warm all year round) to avoid the cold weather of June/July, but somehow I opted for Hobart! But I don’t regret it.

Namely I went to Richmond and Port Arthur, the latter of which is the most visited tourist attraction in Tasmania. Richmond sort of reminds me of Marysville and Ballarat in Victoria. Well, they’re all the same when you think about it, only Richmond is much older (and very unlike our Richmond in the ‘burbs!) and has the …
