Giveaway: Batmanian Blogoversary Bonanza!
Last month I marked the tenth anniversary of my first ever blog post. Nostalgia compels me to celebrate, so I thought I’d have a giveaway – completely unrelated to blogging, mind you, but hey, you get free shit! And better yet, FREE BATMAN SHIT from BATMANIA! And just as Batman decided to look outside of Gotham to expand on his horde of Batclones, this giveaway is INTERNATIONAL too! Yes, I will ship anywhere short of Krypton.

How diabolically clever of you!
So today is the day my blog in all its varied forms turns TEN!
I’ve witnessed first hand the massive impact the simple art of publishing one’s thoughts online has had on the world over the last decade, and it’s been amazing – no one could have foreseen how far it would take off. Hell, when I first signed up for Twitter four years ago I thought it would be another web 2.0 flop. Blogging encompasses so much now. It’s endless entertainment, it’s unpredictable, it’s dangerous, it’s an agent for revolution and reform, it’s a thriving hive of rapid information exchange, it’s eclectic and colourful in all its interests.

Nine years native, nagging and narcissistic!
So it occurred to me while cleaning the house today—and quite opportunely—that today marks the nine year anniversary of the first day I began blogging. Yes, I started young in 2001 at the dawn of the now enormous, endless sea of mundane and meaningful blogs. I called my first blog Life of a Mangaka, even though I sure as hell wasn’t one, though I did draw a lot of anime characters, as you do when you’re a kid and of the Asian persuasion—to perpetuate the stereotype a little. Still, what on earth was I thinking! Wishful thinking, obviously. Later I would call my blog, Semi-Charmed Life. Incidentally I named my longest running blog Ninth Angel; I can’t remember my rationale for its meaning, but I suppose I thought it was cool. I think I was influenced by Neon Genesis Evangelion at the time…
I’d already begun “designing” websites for a couple years by then, so blogging seemed to be the next step to take. I used Blogger as my platform until later I ventured into WordPress. I was hosted periodically by generous friends without whom I wouldn’t have been able to use nifty things like SHTML or PHP. I …

Well it’s probably obvious that I haven’t updated this in a long time. I’m wondering what I should do with this blog because I mostly post at my Livejournal. But I don’t want to abandon this to the winds either. So I shall be taking a longer break and coming up with something that will keep me interested in continuing this blog. Adieu for now, chickies~

So it’s been a hell of a month lately! I finally finished second year uni last Monday. That Monday was one of my worst Mondays ever, and that’s saying quite a lot, but in amongst all the travelling from north to west to east to in-between, printing mock-ups (and muck-ups) and bookbinding setbacks, there was that massive shower of relief that washed over me when I set that folio down onto the desk in studio, and exited the campus with a somewhat triumphant feeling. The victory didn’t kick in until I was binging on glorious junk food in QV with Steph, and having a good nervous chortle about it afterwards. Not particularly looking forward to the end of November which is when results are released, but meh, c’est la vie.
More excitingly though, Cam and I went to the Armageddon Expo at the Exhibition Centre on Saturday. I was totally not planning to go this year, but I passed several bill posters in Essendon with multiple Batmans gazing at me, daring me not to come, so how could I not go, eh? That was when I found out Jim Lee, THE Jim Lee, Master of All Comic Art, was making a …
