I liked the Twilight book cover. It was a strong and simple concept, and it did look beautiful. I say this all in past tense now because so much over-exposure and repeated appropriation has killed its aura for me. Call it genius marketing, bandwagon jumping or shameless plagiarism–there’s no dispute: the Twilight cover (designed by Gail Doobinin) ineffably represents much of popular fiction cover design today, loath as we are to admit it.
So where am I heading with all this?
