I bought Hustle: Series One on DVD from JB Hifi today. I dunno why — I didn’t even plan to, although I do love that show to bits (Marc Warren, squee!). I just went to Highpoint to see if the newest Classic Drama DVD was out in the newsagents yet (alas, Vanity Fair remains), and then I went into JB to check out their Electronica/Dance collection, as research for my electronic design project. Lo and behold, the biggest array of BBC series on SALE. SALE, I SAY. I wanted to buy all of them, but I made do with one. *sighs* Must save my money for design books. It’s so hard…
I’ve nearly finished watching Good Night and Good Luck. It took me three years to finally get my hands on it, and that’s three years after I got the soundtrack, lolz. It’s Dianne Reeves, come on! The film is sooo good; I love it. The cast is perfect. George Clooney is beyond perfect. The use of black and white is just so perfect; not only does it just accentuate the level of heavy smoking amongst everyone (making me feel rather sorry for them, come the day cancer arrives on their doorstep), it mutes all other distractions of colour and wholly focuses on the intensity of movement and expression and dialogue. Seems rather fitting to watch it now that all eyes are on the only successful ‘Communist’ state to date… and the prevalence of that wondrous thing called HYPOCRISY.
Which reminds me, I must finish reading The Good German so I can ogle Mr Clooney in black and white tones again. You know, I started it last April, and I’m still not done! I mean, where’s the logic in that
Anyhoo, add on two more typography projects to my current load and you have one happy Jen.
Please note my dripping sarcasm in that previous line.
